Yes, you don't pay tips in Japan, great customer service is a norm and is the standard in Japan , no one expects extra pay for doing their job! Also, don't eat and walk at the same time , find a quiet corner , finish eating and then walk.

I don't agree with the Chinese's custom leaving food on a plate , never finish all the food , I think it is wasting food!
As for using your right hand for shaking hands , exchanging money, in India and the Middle East, what if the person lost his/her right arm? The video says left-hand is for cleaning after doing business, well, I use my right hand : )

Life Lessons From 100-Year-Olds
One of the nicest and more meaningful video on Youtube. Even if you don't plan to live that long , it is a good idea listening to those who don't plan it but just happen to be alive after 100 years.
This is a video of interviews of three centenarians from England, one of them lives in Eastbourne, East Sussex which I am familiar with. The video shows the beach at Brighton. If there are any die-hard Star Wars fans out there , they should know that actor Sebastian Shaw (Anakin Skywalker ,Sr. as in the end of ep VI), passed away there in 1994. Incidentally, Sir Alec Guinness (Obi-Wan Kenobi in the original trilogy) passed away in West Sussex in 2000, the Force is strong with Sussex!
Just my observation, all centenarians that I have seen have one thing in common: They are peacefully. I think most of us are too angry , even at things that are trivial. I think one of the goals in life is minimizing the amount of regrets......

A man Faking his Death In Front of his Cat - his cat's reaction......
As I expected .................
The man was lucky , his cat didn't start eating him!
Or maybe the cat thinks human has other 8 lifes to spare ..........
Or cats can detect real or fake death? Still hear a pulse ? Smell some hormone ?
Not that I understand cat's call but judging from the initial reaction, the cat shows concerns (who the hell is going to feed him?), then may be he detects a pulse , he couldn't careless if his "feeder" sleeps on the floor !

世上只有媽媽好......お母さんが最高です...... Mother is the best in the world......
以前提及過, 媽媽有病, 過去一年很不開心. 醫生說以統計數據來說, 媽會和我們有限定的時間. 雖然媽媽還有健康, 但每次看到媽媽都好難過. 特別是最近慶祝了她的生日, 每次想起, 見她背影也哭了出來. 雖然每人都有自己的冬天, 但媽媽的冬天來得太早. 醫生也為什麼在聖誕,農歷新年前說這些.....希望治療有效或延長生命.
As I mentioned before , my mother is ill . Just recently, Doctor has mentioned that statistically , she has limited time with us. Even though we all suspected (or maybe we just don't want to accept it) but never received any type mention until this occasion. The news is devastating for us especially at this time of the year. Occasionally, I burst into tears just thinking about it, or watching my mother , especially at her back, it is like she is leaving us for good as she walks away.......Mother gave birth to us, took care of us (still care about us) and now it is our turn to take care of her but we are helpless, there is nothing we can do except we pray the treatment works for her. My mother illness is shared by many around the globe but is particularly more common among asian women.
Why did the doctor have to mention this expiration now during Christmas and before the Chinese New Year !?
The above video is just an old song from a 1950s Chinese movie , praising mother's love - To me , it is the greatest love of all..... The girl singing in the video is still with us. Almost everyone in the Chinese culture knows this song. I guess every culture has a` song for mother.

Carrie Fisher's mother Debbie Reynolds dies at the age of 84
Debbie Reynolds died after a stroke at her house following her daughter's passing yesterday. She must be very close to Carrie and was devastated , and wanted to be with her beloved daughter, I guess she got her wish.
Debbie Reynolds's filmpgraphy spanned from 1948 to 2016 (did a documentary Bright Lights with her daughter Carrie Fisher this year) , including TV sitcoms such as The Golden Golds , Will & Grace , Wings and Roseanne)
This year is really a bad year for celebrities. Too many were gone.....
This has to be the saddest week for her family (for her grand-daughter Billie Lourd).

Goodbye , our Princess Leia - Carrie Fisher passed away at the age of 60

Just saddened ........
Carrie Fisher passed away at 8.55 am , 27 th December, 2016 in Los Angeles. She was hospitalized from cardiac arrest during the flight from London to Los Angeles on 23 rd December, 2016.
Carrie Fisher was one of the first people who thought the original Star Wars script was great. She also did some 'clean up " works for Star Wars prequel scripts upon George Lucas's request.
Besides Star Wars, her other projects included When Harry Met Sally (1989), Austin Powers (International Man of Mystery). She guest-starred an episode in Sex and the City and in 30 Rock.
In 2016, she was awarded the Annual Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award in Cultural Humanism for her activism about addiction , mental illness and agnosticism.
She was the daughter of another famous address Debbie Reynoldswho is still with us (died on 28 th December, 2016, barely a day after Carrie Fisher's passing) . This is a very sad day for her. As we Chinese say, "A Black Hair Person should send off the White Hair Person", young send off the old, not other way round ~~ this has to be the saddest day for a mother...........

貴婦人と一角獣 THE LADY AND THE UNICORN (AS SEEN IN GUNDAM UNICORN)
If you are a fan of Gundam Unicorn, you should recognise this tapestry or a set of 6 tapestries, 5 of which are depicting the five senses : Taste, hearing, sight, touch and smell. The modern name for these tapestries is called The lady and the Unicorn (In French: La Dame à la licorne). It is currently located in Musée national du Moyen Âge or what used to be called Musée de Cluny.
The tapestries were woven in Flunders using wool and silk with drawing from the 1500. All the tapestries have a lady with a lion on her left and the unicorn on the right. The pennants in th tapestries show the arms of the sponsor of the tapestries Jean Le Viste who was a nobleman in the court of King Charles VII ; some also suggest that the real sponsor of the tapestries is Antoine II Le Viste , a descendent of the Le Viste family and a powerful figure in the court of Chales VIII, Louis XII and François I. I am not a historian , so someone can verify this.
The tapestries were discovered in 1841 by Prosper Mérimée in Boussac castle.
As mentioned earlier, it is suggested that the tapestries depict the five senses :
味覚 TASTE（Le goût） :
In one of the tapestries , the lady is taking candies from a dish held by a maid. The monkey is also eating candies.
視覚 SIGHT（La vue）:
In one of the tapestries , the lady is holding a mirror in her right hand while the Unicorn kneels on the ground with his fore legs in the lady's lap, looking at its reflection in the mirror.
嗅覚 SMELL（L'odorat）:
In one of the tapestries ,the lady is making a flower wreath and the monkey is sniffing / smelling a flower.
触覚 TOUCH （Le toucher）:
In one of the tapestries , the lady is touching the unicorn's horn while the other hand is holding the pennant.
聴覚 HEARING （L'ouïe）:
In one of the tapestries , the lady plays an organetto on the table.
DESIRE À mon seul désir :
One of the tapestries that we see in Gundam Unicorn is called À Mon Seul Désir. It is wider than the others with drawings of different style. The lady is standing before a tent with the words À Mon Seul Désir written across its top. À Mon Seul Désir has many interpretations , some of which are:
- according to my desire alone
- by my will only
- love only desires beauty of soul
........
The lady in this tapestry is placing her necklace that she is wearing in other tapestries , in the chest. A maid is standing in the right side of this chest. There is a bench with bags of coins on the bench. This is the only tapestry in which the lady is smiling.
There are many interpretations for the drawing on this tapestry:
- placing the necklace in the chest suggests THAT the lady is abandoning her passions aroused by the other five senses.
- as suggestion of her free will.
- representing the sixth sense.
- representing love / viginity.

The above are all suggestive and open to interpretations, like any other arts.

CHRISTOPHER LEE DIES AT 93
For Star Wars fans , Sir Christopher Lee was best known as Count Dooku in the second and third episodes of Star Wars, but to many others , he was best known for portraying Dracula and Franskenstein's monster (in The Curse of Frankenstein 1957). Incidentally , Baron Victor Frankenstein was portrayed by another Star Wars actor Peter Cushing (Grant Moff Tarkin - Commander of Death Star) who starred opposite to Christopher Lee in many occasions (24 films). Of course, he was the Golden Gun (Francisco Scaramanga )in James Bond , The Man with the Golden Gun. Sir Lee was a step-cousin to the late Ian Fleming, the author of James Bond.
Sir Christopher Lee died on the 7th June, 2015 (London time) at London Chelsea and Westminster Hospital shortly after celebrating his 93 rd birthday but the news wasn't announced by his wife (Swedish dancer and actress , Birgit Krøncke , Gitte Lee since 1961) until 11 th June, 2015.
It is indeed a great loss for such a gifted actor whose acting career spans from the 1940s to 2015 (his last film , the 11th, is to be released in 2016).
Besides the Dracula movies , my other favourite movies of Sir Lee include the Gremlins (Lee was in Gremlins II), Sleepy Hollow , Lord of the Rings , Star Wars and the Hobbit Franchise (as Saruman)
Star Wars and Lord of the Rings together grossed over 4.4 Billion US dollars.
Other interesting facts about his film career:
He played a lot of Victorian characters including Sherlock Holmes, Mycroft Holmes (Sherlock's brother) , Sir Henry Baskerville (Holmes's friend) .
One of his biggest regrets was to turn down the role of Dr. Sam Loomis in the Halloween franchise, the role eventually went to Donald Pleasence , another James Bond villain - Blofeld (You Only Live Twice , 1967).
He made 24 films with his close friend , another Star Wars villain actor , Peter Cushing who was also famous for Drucula movies.
He made 6 movies with Johnny Depp including my favourite Sleepy Hollow. Others are :
Charlie and the Cocolate Factory(2005) , Corpse Bride (2005), Alice in Wonderland (2010), Hugo (2011) and Dark Shadows (2012).

I didn't know he was a very linguistic person; apparently he spoke English, Italian, French , French , Spanish and German fluently, with proficiency in Russian, Swedish and Greek. He also stated that he was conversation-proficient in Mandarin Chinese (As Darth Vader says : "Impressive!" ) . This is amazing. Sir Peter Ustinov would be the other actor that I know of , who also spoke fluently in several languages.
Sir Lee used his linguistic skills and commanding voice in many video games : James Bond, Kingdom Hearts , Ever Quest II, Lord of the Rings, etc.

In 2001, he was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (for his servies in drama).

A giant in Star Wars , standing 1.96m tall, almost as tall as Darth Vader (2 meters ). At 77, he stated that he lost an inch in height and became a 6'4" person, so he was 1.98m.

Sir Lee with his wife (Birgit Krøncke) of 54 years (since 1961). They have one daughter, Christina Erika Carandini Lee. Married to the same woman all these years, you have my respect , Sir Lee.

Despite his age, he had very good hair (thick strands) , better than Prince Charles's .

Sir Christopher Lee died on the 7th June, 2015 (London time) at London Chelsea and Westminster Hospital shortly after celebrating his 93 rd birthday but the news wasn't announced by his wife (Swedish dancer and actress , Birgit Krøncke , Gitte Lee since 1961) until 11 th June, 2015.
It is indeed a great loss for such a gifted actor whose acting career spans from the 1940s to 2015 (his last film , the 11th, is to be released in 2016).
Besides the Dracula movies , my other favourite movies of Sir Lee include the Gremlins (Lee was in Gremlins II), Sleepy Hollow , Lord of the Rings , Star Wars and the Hobbit Franchise (as Saruman)
Star Wars and Lord of the Rings together grossed over 4.4 Billion US dollars.
Other interesting facts about his film career:
He played a lot of Victorian characters including Sherlock Holmes, Mycroft Holmes (Sherlock's brother) , Sir Henry Baskerville (Holmes's friend) .
One of his biggest regrets was to turn down the role of Dr. Sam Loomis in the Halloween franchise, the role eventually went to Donald Pleasence , another James Bond villain - Blofeld (You Only Live Twice , 1967).
He made 24 films with his close friend , another Star Wars villain actor , Peter Cushing who was also famous for Drucula movies.
He made 6 movies with Johnny Depp including my favourite Sleepy Hollow. Others are :
Charlie and the Cocolate Factory(2005) , Corpse Bride (2005), Alice in Wonderland (2010), Hugo (2011) and Dark Shadows (2012).

I didn't know he was a very linguistic person; apparently he spoke English, Italian, French , French , Spanish and German fluently, with proficiency in Russian, Swedish and Greek. He also stated that he was conversation-proficient in Mandarin Chinese (As Darth Vader says : "Impressive!" ) . This is amazing. Sir Peter Ustinov would be the other actor that I know of , who also spoke fluently in several languages.
