DEVILMAN CRYBABY OP and OST

  I recently had a chance to see all 10 episodes of the Netflix's Devilman 2018. I can't say I like it but I don't hate it either. To sum it up, too sexual and even though I knew it was going to be bloody from having seen other older incarnations of the anime ,I still can't accept the decapitation and chopped-up limbs in the anime. What's new in this version is the explicit sexual content , I didn't like that at all . I like to watch Devilman as a sci-fi heroic anime , not soft porn. However,  I like the music and songs in this anime.

  No matter how many times I see how Miki dies in other versions of the anime , I just can't get used to her decapitation , too gruesome. I am glad that I am not de-sensitized by all these even after having been watching Devilman in various incarnations. Even though it is an anime, it is still a repugnant scene seeing heads and limbs on sticks. If this is what humanity becomes , human race should be destroyed by themselves and by God as in the anime. The extinction of the human race in the anime can easily become the reality with how things are going currently.

  The story is basically the same as other older versions of Devilman (anime / tokusatsu) or in the original manga , even though some characters from the manga are left out, the ending is a sad one , everyone dies .However, The ending of the 1972 Devilman TV anime is a happy one , Miki and Devilman live. The artistic style of Devilman Crybaby is new , it certainly caught my attention but too simplistic and too "flat (dimensionless) " for my taste.

The new version of Devilman song is catchy. I would call this the dance version of the original Devilman song.

The song is by Denki Groove. The two-member group was formed in 1989.

   I wish they had implemented this design (by 韮沢靖 Nirasawa Yasushi) in Devilman Crybaby. Nirasawa san was a modeller , character designer and illustrator who sadly passed away in 2016 due to kidney failure. However, the artistic style in Devilman Crybaby is probably incompatible with Nirasawa san's design.
