Joan Lee , born Joan Clayton was a British hat model and Stan Lee was in the U.S. army stationed in England.
Before they were met, Joan was married to an American soldier , oved to New York. However, she wasn't happy. Mr. Stan Lee just got out of the army and his cousin tried to fix him up with a girl that might be suitable for Mr. Lee. When Mr. Lee turned up at the door to meet with the girl he was supposed to meet , Joan answered the door instead of Betty (the girl that Mr. Lee was supposed to meet).
Mr. Lee fell in love with Joan at first sight and her British accent. They were married in December, 1947 . Joan was granted a divorce by a judge and an hour later , married to Stan Lee by the same judge in the room next to where she was granted a divorce.
Mr. Lee wanted to quit writing comics in the 1960s since his career had stalled and he had dream to be a novelist but it was Joan Lee who encouraged Stan Lee to write one final comic - Fantastic Four which was a success.
Mr. Lee thought Joan was the perfect wife for him since she was not bothered by Mr. Lee busy writing comic , so Mr. Lee felt less guilty not attending his wife.
Mrs. Joan Lee wasn't a comic fan but she did voice works for 1990;s animated series of Fantastic Four (as Miss Forbes) and as Madame Web in Spider-Man.
