BATMAN ADAM WEST DIES AT 88

 Real name William West Anderson (1928) , best known for portraying Batman 1966 , passed away on 9 th June, 2017 in Los Angeles after a short battle with leukemia.

 Before he became the cape crusader, he was active in westerns films and TV series such as colt 45 , Lawman , the Rifleman , Gunsmoke.


 Batman didn't start off as a TV series , it was a 1966 movie in which Adam West teamed up with Burt Ward (Robin) as the masked dynamic duo. The TV series that followed , lasted for three seasons (1966 -1968) . In 1977, he returned as Batman in the animation series The New Adventures of Batman.


 Although he was severely typecast as Batman, Mr. West was quite active in other ventures such as animation voice works , including Batman: New Times in which he worked with Mark Hamil (Luke Skywalker) as The Joker. He often played himself in  The Simpsons , Futurama , Johnny Bravo , Family Guy a(as Mayor Adam West) , etc.

 His most recent Batman voice works include video game Lego Batman3 : Beyond Gotham (2014) , Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders (2016) and Batman vs Two-Face (2017).

 Besides animation and video game voice works , Mr. West often guest-starred in sitcoms such as Laverne & Shirley (1982) , Murphy Brown (1997), NewsRadio (1998), Drew Carey Show (2001), The King Of Queens (2005), 30 Rock (2009) and the Big Bang Theory (the 200 th episodes as himself, 2016) . He was also in Robot Chicken (2015) as Batman.

 Adam West was offered the role of James Bond in Diamonds Are Forever but he turned it down becuase he believed the role should be played by a British actor. Incidentally, James Bond actor , Sir Roger Moore died recently at the age of 89 (May, 2017).

 One of his idols was Burgess Meredith (died in 1997) who played the Penguin in Batman and of course ,  as Mickey Goldmill in the Rocky franchise. His other idol is John Wayne.

 Besides Batman, he was also in another TV superhero show such as Lois & Clark: The New Adventure of Superman (1995).

 He had been attending San Diego Comic-Con since 2007 until 2014 by then he became a grandfather.

Mr. West is survived by his wife , Marcelle Lear and his six children (from different marriages).
