GUILTY OF FIRST-DEGREE MURDER!

The case caught world wide attention but the trial was only noticed in Canada (maybe in Europe to which Magnotta escaped after he commited the murder).
More than two years ago (May, 2012) , Lin Jun (林俊) was brutally murder by Luka Magnotta (real name Eric Newman).

I am not trying to glorify the murder but this is what this piece of scum did to Lin Jun:
-Throat was slashed alive (even though Lin Jun was unconscious apparently by medication given by Magotta)
-Apparently, skull was smashed with hammer seconds after the throat was cut. Body was stabbed numerous times before being dismembered using various cutting tools including an electric saw. Necrophiliac act was performed and others that are too cruel and disgusting to mention; of course those include putting the murder video on the internet.
The verdict was not reached until today (8 days after the end of the trial). The jury apparently was having a difficult time to decide whether Magnotta was criminally responsible for the crimes (there are other charges) even though he admitted killing Lin Jun. The trial was to decide whether Magnotta was in his psychosis state when he committed the crime (yes, the defence lawyer did use Schizophrenia as the excuse for his inhuman acts).
The charges are :
1) First-degree murder of Lin Jun.
2) Committing an indignity to a human body (dismemberment / necrophilia)
3) Publishing obscene material (publishing the murder video online)
4) Harrassing the Prime Minister of Canada (Stephen Harper) and various members of Parliament.
5) Mailing obscene and indecent materials (Lin Jun's body parts)
The 12-member jury (14 initially [8 women, 4 men] , 2 were "back-ups" and were eventually dismissed) must decide whether Magnotta is criminally responsible for ALL of the above unanimously. If so, they also have to decide whether it is first-degree murder , second-degree murder or manslaughter.
Not criminally responsible (NCR for short) means that the offender doesn't appreciate or understand what he/she did was wrong due to mental disorder at the time of the offense.
If Magnotta was found not criminally responsible, he would be sent to some mental institution , after a few years of comfortable stay , he would be released back to the society and probably , he could murder someone else.
After a 7+ day wait without a verdict, I began to think that the jury was accepting Magnotta's psychosis defense and this would be devastating to the rest of humanity and worst of all , to Lin Jun's family. Lin Jun's father has been staying in Canada all this time just for this verdict. I hope he can find some solace in this tragedy. Having heard and seen the events and evidence of how his son died must be the worst experience parents can go through. I have to admit I shred some tears reading the headline "GUILTY OF FIRST-DEGREE MURDER" which I didn't expect after 7+ days without a verdict. I shred tears for the humanity and the just verdict.
Evidence was presented in the trial to show Magnotta had planned the murder (he even test-drove the whole murder process with another person days before Lin Jun's dismise, but that person was lucky that Magnotta was only test-driving his plan and didn't kill him).
The guilty verdict of first-degree murder carries a minimum of 25 years incarceration without the chance of parole under Canadian law. I do not know if all charges are served concurrently or separately which means a life-time sentence.
I just hope that he dies in prison and let him be forgotten (a punishment for attention-hungry scum).
I also hope that scum doesn't waste any more tax payers' money with an appeal.

Lin Jun's father , Lin Diran has expressed the hope that some apologies , remorse will be offered but they are unlikely from some one like that scum Eric.

It is so hard for me to look at this photo, seeing Mr. Lin face with extreme sorrow.
When he first arrived Canada more than two years ago, his hair was still black , now showing sign of white, the devastating pain has taken a toll on him.
