iPHONE 4

At the Worldwide developers conference in San Francisco, Steve Jobs, the CEO of Apple, announced the iPHONE 4.

iPHONE 4 has two versions: 16 GB memory (199US) and 32 GB memory version (299 US). It is 9.3 mm thick and is thinner than the iPHONE 3GS. It comes with a head phone jack and primary and secondary microphone jacks. Speaker and the APPLE proprietary 30-pin connector are at the bottom. Volume adjusts are on the sides. Both black and white cases are available.

iPHONE 4 has a steel alloy rim (the alloy is 5 times stronger than regular steel) around the phone body. It acts as part of the antenna system. The integrated antenna also holds the front and back glass panels ( same type of glass used in helicopters and high speed trains, chemically treated to be 30 times stronger than plastic and is scratch-resistant ). Protection cases called Bumper are available in black, white, green, blue and pink. The phone itself weighs 4.8 ounces.

iPHONE 4 uses the A4 SOC (System-on-chip) processor which is the same chip for iPAD. Apple has renamed the iPHONE OS to iOS4.

Apple names the displayt "retina display" because the resolution (326 pixels per inch, PPI) of the display is higher than what the human eye can perceive. The "retina" display is 3.5 inch diagonally with 960 x 640 resolution. The brightness has contrast ratio of 800 to 1. The display and back panel are coated with fingerprint-resistant "oleophobic" coating.

The rear camera has 5 mega pixels which is capable of recording HD 720p, 30fps (frames per second) video. LED flash is constantly on for better video recording. There is also a front camera for video calls (Facetime). Standard protocols such as H264 and SIP (Session initiation protocol) are used for this application. Facetime only works with iPHONE to iPHONE calling. The front and rear cameras can be switched, so that you can display the image of rear or front camera on the display. Video and still images can be tap-focused (on display). The display supports the display of multiple languages simultaneously.

576 x 480 pixels with Apple Component AV cable.

Maximum volume is user-programmable.

iPHONE 4 also has a 3-axis gyroscope which detects the phone's orientation together with an accelerometer for 6-axis motion sensing. These are useful for games. Other sensors include ambient light sensing and proximity sensing.

iPHONE 4 has Wi-Fi 802 11n , Blue-tooth 2.1 (with EDR - enhanced data rate which uses GFSK and phase shift keying) , GPS , a digital compass.

iPHONE 4 uses the built-in rechargeable Lithium Ion battery which will last for 7 hours using 3G, 30 hours for music and 1 hours for video; and 6 hours on 3G and 10 hours of web surfing time on Wi-Fi. Charging through computer USB 2 port or a power adapter.

Many applications such as Visual Voice Mail and Google map come pre-loaded with the iPHONE 4.

Pre-order begins on 15th June 2010 and starts to ship in Japan, US, UK, France and Germany on 24 th June, 2010.

There is a missing part on the leg which the author is making a replacement part for.
Also, according to KURT, YAMATO included two of the same arms in the package. For a 210,000 円 product, this is no acceptable.
