The guy(秋山燿平 Akiyama Yohei) on the left is Japanese and speaks Mandarin and Cantonese, and the girl on the left 官琳 (Kan Rin, Japanese pronunciation of her Chinese name) speaks Japanese like a local, even impresses Akiyama san.
Akiyama san (top right corner) tries to improve his Cantonese (his Mandarin is excellent, his Cantonese is also impressive) . The person in the video is from Hong Kong (A Hong Kong Cultural promoter) , so he speaks Cantonese. He points out that Akiyama san should use his native Japanese pronunciations to assist him in pronouncing Cantonese as Japanese Chinese (漢字 Kanji) pronunciations are actually closer to Cantonese than Mandarin. Mandarin uses a lot of tongue rolling in the pronunciations which do not happen in Cantonese or Japanese; also both languages are very rich in pitch accent.
I am impressed by both Akiyama san and 官琳 san . When countries are neighbours to each other, they have a lot more cultural interactions and exchanges.
