This video discusses a bit more on the engineering side of tiny house , particularly in the area of energy generation and usage. This project is being done by a group of students at Carleton University, Ottawa , Canada. As the title suggests, this house is totally off-grid and relies on solar energy. I really don't like the sloped roof becuase it takes way the space that could be used inside the house but I guess it is needed to capture most amount of sun energy for the solar panel. The house is insulated by vacuum insulated panel (wrapped in aluminium). It has large water storage under the kitchen floor as well as the means of generating water from de-humidifying surrounding atmosphere. One particular innovative feature is the sliding loft, the loft location is not fixed but can slide along the length of the upper area of the house. Unfortunately, this moveable loft is the only sleeping area in the house and it is still using composting toilet (I really wish there was something like the transporter in Star Trek , just disintegrate the waste!
