Mr. Nimoy had COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, in short , a lung disease characterized by poor airflow, commonly caused by smoking), despite the fact that Mr . Nimoy had stopped smoking 30 years earlier.

So people , don't smoke ! I don't even drink!

Besides being an actor, he was also a writer and film director . He directed several Star trek movies as well as my favourite , Three Men And a Baby.

Out of the main cast of the original Star Trek series, Mr. Kelly Deforest (Dr. McCoy) passed away in 1999, at the age of 79; followed by James Doohan (Mr. Scott, died in 2005, at the age of 85) .
Recurring character Sarek (Spock's father) , actor Mark Lenard died in 1996 , at the age of 72.
